New Dawn is a volunteer-driven, non-profit social enterprise focused on community development. Our mission is to identify and address the needs of our community by creating and managing initiatives tailored to meet these needs.
The services we offer generate revenue, which is then reinvested into New Dawn. This reinvestment strategy enables us to launch new projects and tackle emerging community challenges, all aimed at fostering a more dynamic and self-sufficient Cape Breton Island. With a workforce of over 175 local employees, we impact the lives of 600 Cape Breton residents daily through our various companies and initiatives. Since our inception in 1976, our commitment to fostering a culture of self-reliance within the community remains steadfast and vital.
- Combining Business and Social Development: New Dawn integrates business practices with social development efforts to address community needs effectively. This dual approach is evident in initiatives such as dental clinics, the Cape Breton School of Crafts, halfway houses, and various affordable housing projects.
